Project Overview

Project Name
Basta Restaurant

Client Background
BASTA is a family owned Italian restaurant known for its handcrafted pastas, wood fired pizzas, Florentine steaks, and commitment to authentic Italian hospitality. Founded by Saverio and Devon Posarelli, BASTA began in Agoura Hills before expanding to its second location in Thousand Oaks. The new restaurant brings the warmth of traditional Italian dining into a contemporary setting, combining exceptional cuisine with thoughtful design and an inviting atmosphere. Christie Building & Development helped bring that vision to life.

Objective
Restaurant construction demands a unique balance of specialized infrastructure and thoughtful design. Behind every great dining experience is a complex network of commercial kitchen systems, dedicated electrical and plumbing, ventilation, equipment coordination, and carefully executed architectural finishes. Every element must work together to support daily operations while delivering the atmosphere guests expect. The objective was to bring BASTA's culinary vision into a fully functioning restaurant, with the precision, coordination, and craftsmanship required to make every detail count.

Scope
Christie Building & Development served as General Contractor for the Thousand Oaks restaurant buildout, coordinating construction activities, specialized building systems, and interior finishes. The project required close collaboration between ownership, designers, and trade partners to bring together the operational demands of a commercial kitchen with the craftsmanship of a finished dining environment. From initial coordination through final delivery, the focus remained on quality, communication, and execution.

Design Approach and Execution

The Approach

Bringing BASTA's signature Italian dining experience to Thousand Oaks required a space where culinary craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and everyday functionality could come together. Every element needed to support the demands of a busy restaurant while creating the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defines BASTA. From the kitchen to the dining room, precision and attention to detail guided the approach.

Phase 1: Planning and Site Preparation

A successful restaurant starts long before the finishing touches. The first phase focused on understanding the space, coordinating construction requirements, and establishing a clear path forward. Careful planning across building systems, kitchen operations, and guest areas helped set the foundation for an efficient construction process.

Phase 2: Kitchen and Building Infrastructure

The kitchen is the heart of BASTA's operation. Supporting its culinary vision required thoughtful coordination of commercial kitchen equipment, plumbing, electrical, ventilation, and mechanical systems. Each system plays an essential role in creating a kitchen designed for efficiency, reliability, and the demands of daily restaurant service.

Phase 3: Dining Room and Bar Buildout

The guest experience begins the moment someone walks through the door. From architectural finishes and lighting to seating areas and the bar, every detail contributes to BASTA's distinctive atmosphere. The focus was on creating an inviting environment that brings together contemporary design, comfort, and the warmth of Italian hospitality.

Phase 4: Finishing Details and Final Coordination

The final phase brings everything together. Architectural finishes, equipment coordination, building systems, and final inspections all contribute to preparing a restaurant for daily operations. With careful attention to the details, the goal was to deliver a finished space that supports the BASTA team and welcomes guests for years to come.
